This transition programme provides a unique opportunity for early-career finance professionals to develop expertise in pricing and risk management, and to learn the methods and techniques used in designing and managing financial risk hedging products. The programme is tailored to your level of experience in finance. You can take the courses in any order you prefer and set your own pace. Successfully completing this programme makes you eligible for admission to the Actuarial Practice Cycle (APC).

For whom?

Candidates with an academic Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in actuarial science, econometrics, chemistry, physics, mathematics or similar quantitative training. Upon completion of the programme, you will meet the admission requirements for the post-Master’s in Actuarial Practice Cycle.

Programme

The transition programme has a strong focus on technological developments, such as artificial intelligence, big data and machine learning, and you will learn how to apply key theoretical concepts in your actuarial practice. You will attend lectures with students from the Bachelor's Actuarial Science and the Master's Actuarial Science and Mathematical Finance.

Get a personalised study programme

Based on your previous education, we will create a personalised learning plan for you, with all the courses you need to complete to be admitted to the APC programme. If there are any overlaps with your previous education, you will receive an exemption for these parts of the programme. This is determined during your personal intake interview.

Obtain a (second) Master’s degree 

You can also use the transition programme to obtain a Master’s degree (or a second Master’s degree). To do so, you have to complete courses from the Master’s in Actuarial Science and Mathematical Finance and write a Master’s thesis. 

Please note: if you want to pursue a second Master’s degree, you can get an exemption of up to 15 EC, except for the Master’s thesis, which is mandatory.

Request an intake assessment and we will check if you are eligible for this study and which courses you need to take. We will respond to your request within 3 working days.  

  • 2. Receive your personalised study plan

    If you are admissible, you will receive a personalised study plan based on your previous education and the exemptions it entitles you to.

  • 3. Register for the courses in your personalised study plan

    To register for the courses in your personalised study plan, contact the programme office. They will provide you with all the information you need about practical matters and the rest of the registration process. Please note: to complete your registration, you must upload a copy of a valid passport or identity card. 

Cost

Per course: €1,500 
Master’s thesis: €3,250 

What is included? 

Tuition covers all lectures, a final exam and any resits for the modules. Textbooks are not included and cost around €100 per course. 

Payment 

Once you have started the programme, you will receive an invoice for your tuition fees, which you can pay in instalments.
