Pim ten Thije currently works on EU legislation on behalf of the Dutch government as a Policy Officer for EU Digital Technologies and the Digital Economy within the EU and International Affairs Directorate of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs.
He previously served as a diplomat at the Netherlands Permanent Representation to the EU in Brussels and worked as a researcher in Information Law at The Institute for Information Law (University of Amsterdam). Earlier in his career, he was a Schuman Trainee at the European Parliament. Pim was part of PPLE’s first cohort, graduated in 2018 from the Law major, and co-founded PPLE's study association AIM.
In his talk, Pim will explore with PPLE students why EU legislation and policy matter; how they are constantly influenced by national governments; and why PPLE provides excellent ‘basic training’ for a career in diplomacy and in or around the EU institutions. Join his talk for a practical, inside view on EU lawmaking - and discover that you don’t have to be a lobbyist to influence EU law!
